Maritime Museum Invites You To Take A DaySail
A trip to San Diego would not be complete without getting on the water! Enjoy San Diego’s beautiful outdoors aboard San Salvador, a representation of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo’s ship that arrived at the port we now call San Diego on September 28, 1542. Very few people have sailed aboard galleons of the sixteenth century and these day sails will offer the public a chance to be aboard the magnificent galleon, San Salvador.
These four-hour sailing adventures are for people who love history, and sailing. Join the crew in sailing a traditionally rigged tall ship. Passengers will be invited to haul a line, man the helm and watch the crew as they scamper up and down the rigging to set and furl the sails. Listen as the crew relates the history of sailing and exploration in San Diego, tales of whaling and sea otter trade, local sea battles, the art of ship’s gunnery, life at sea and more.
San Salvador sailing adventures take place most weekends and check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. Reservations are highly recommended!
