April 22: Earth Day
Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EARTHDAY.ORG (formerly Earth Day Network) including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. The official theme for 2023 is Invest In Our Planet.
April 22-30: National Park Week
This year’s National Park Week theme is “Your Park Story”. What park place is very special to you? National Park Week is happening April 22 to April 30 this year. Entrance fees will be waived on April 22, 2023, to kick off the celebration and to encourage everyone to enjoy their national parks in person. National Park Service parks, programs, and partners will host events and activities all week! Follow National Park Week on social media and join the fun all week using #NationalParkWeek.

May 5: Havasu WON Striper Derby
Western Outdoor News (WON) is proud to be hosting the 41st anniversary of the Lake Havasu Striper Derby from 6 a.m.-6 p.m.! This year’s Grand Raffle prize Klamath 16 EXW paired with a Suzuki 40 HP motor and trailer will be a rig worth parking in front of the house to show off.
May 6: Payson Wildlife Fair
Join us for a fantastic day of activities during the Annual Payson Wildlife Fair, an annual cooperative event between the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Mogollon Sporting Association, US Forest Service, and Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department. Admission is FREE. The 9 a.m.-3 p.m. event will be at Green Valley Park.
May 20-26: National Safe Boating Week
National Safe Boating Week reminds all boaters to brush up on boating-safety skills and prepare for the boating season. This observance week is the annual kick-off of the Safe Boating Campaign, a global awareness effort that encourages boaters to make the most of their boating adventure by being responsible.
“The best boating experience is safe boating,” said Yvonne Pentz, communications director of the National Safe Boating Council, a nonprofit dedicated to helping create a safe boating experience for all boaters and the lead organization of the Safe Boating Campaign. “Have fun on the water, make memories with your family and friends – all while boating responsibly.”
May 14: Mothers’ Day
Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. It is observed in over 40 countries and is related to Children’s Day, Siblings Day, Father’s Day, Parents’ Day, and Grandparents’ Day.

Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.
