Maricopa County, AZ - Bartlett Lake is located in the northeast valley only 48 miles from downtown Phoenix and 17 miles northeast of Carefree and is within 1 hour from most valley locations. The scenic Bartlett Lake Road combined with the expanding Phoenix freeway system offers easy access from the entire Valley of the Sun.
Bartlett Lake is a reservoir that was formed by the damming of the Verde River in the U.S. state of Arizona. Constructed in 1936 - 1939 by the Salt River Project, the dam and reservoir were named for Bill Bartlett, a government surveyor. Bartlett Lake was the first reservoir built on the Verde River.
After wet winters, the Bartlett Lake area often has fine displays of spring wildflowers. The facilities located at Bartlett Lake are managed by the Forest Service.
Fish species include Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Crappie, Sunfish, Catfish (Channel), Catfish (Flathead) & Carp.
