HOBIES GATHER AT HAVASU -- Coming to Lake Havasu Nov. 8-13 is the HAVAMEGA 2009 HCA Hobiecat North American Championships. The host for this event is the Lake Havasu Yacht Club, home of Hobie Fleet 88. At least six one-design Hobie catamaran classes will be competing for North American Champion. These classes include Hobie Wave, Hobie 16 Trapseat, Hobie 17, Hobie 18, Hobie 20 and Hobie F18 Tiger. Also racing in the six-day event will be Hobie 14s, Hobie 16s, Hobie FX-One's, Getaways along with an exhibition of Hobie Adventure Island Tri-Kayak sailing, and other Hobie watercraft.

Three separate race courses, occupying both the north and south basins, of Lake Havasu will be used.The Hobie Class Association will be holding their annual Association General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday after racing. RSVPs coming from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and from as far as Hawaii and Australia. A turnout of 150 to 200 boats from all classes is expected. Event proceeds will be used to form a Hobie junior sail training and racing program at Lake Havasu Yacht Club.
