SAN DIEGO - - San Diego's
Maritime Institute
announced today that it has received initial approval from the Council on Occupational Education (COE) for the offering of its first two year associate degree program. The approved program is an Associates of Applied Science (AAS) in Maritime Transportation. The program will be offered at Maritime Institute, located at 1310 Rosecrans Street, San Diego, Ca. 92106.
Maritime Institute President H. R. "Rags" Laragione said the accreditation is something the Institute has been working to achieve for the past several years, and the school is extremely excited about the new program. "The availability of our new Maritime Transportation Degree program is an important step forward for students wanting to pursue a career in Marine Sciences". Additionally Captain Laragione said, "It's an important step forward for the Southern California and San Diego marine industry".
