Sometimes things just come together right. I love it when that happens.
Today was one of those days. The new-to-us 1954 Chris-Craft that Ed Hale of Hale’s Marine Service was kind enough to bring to us from San Diego arrived yesterday, and I was anxious to splash it in its new home at Bartlett Lake immediately.
While waiting for Ed to arrive with the boat, Carol and I sat talking with Eric Church. Eric suggested that since the boat was already out of the water that we might think about doing some of the work before we splashed her.
When Ed arrived, he brought his friend Don. They met at an intersection near Carefree and Don decided to tag along. Don is a wooden-boat aficionado and expert. By the time we were gathered at the marina and ready to launch, we had a group of boat professionals who covered the spectrum of boating expertise.
Long story short, we decided that Eric was right and we should take advantage of this opportunity to get the boat in tip-top shape before we put her in the water.
This is where you come in to the picture. "Rock The Boat" would like to have this boat operational, not to mention back to her original beauty, and on the water by the middle of November. Yes, this year.
Join The "Rock The Boat" project and help save one of these beautiful old Chris-Crafts.
The group gathered in the desert today also suggested that it would be good to start a local Wooden Boat Club. Let us know if you might be interested.

Lake Tahoe in Nevada has long been a home to these beautiful floating pieces of history. Arizona Boating & Watersports/Western Outdoor Times and the "Rock The Boat" project hope to establish this tradition at Bartlett Lake in Arizona.
This will make the fourth vintage Chris-Craft to join the "Rock The Boat" (501C3) fleet. As these boats are completed, they will be auctioned with proceeds going to Superstition Search & Rescue.
