Springtime Fun Awaits In San Diego – From Maritime Museum Of San Diego
Enjoy our safe, fun and educational outdoor adventure with friends and family on the weekend! We are open Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Your general admission ticket includes a self-guided top deck tour.
Add an amazing 45-minute narrated Historic Bay Cruise for only $5*! Nationally recognized and preserved historic vessels are featured. These are on Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.-3:45 p.m. with required check-in 15 minutes prior.
Our Captain and Crew will take you out on the water in a large loop, first heading toward North Island and the Aircraft Carriers, then stopping at buoy 22. Often there’s a sea lion or two, and then the tour continues down along Coronado. We’ll head under Coronado Bridge and make a port turn around one of the bridge pillars.
You will then head back towards the Maritime Museum, passing Seaport Village, B Street Pier, Midway and Portside Pier along the downtown side of the waterfront.
COMMUNITY
The Wall That Heals
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) has announced The Wall That Heals national tour schedule for 2021. The Wall That Heals exhibit includes a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial along with a mobile Education Center. The 26th season of The Wall That Heals will begin on April 8, 2021 in New Bern, N.C, and visit communities throughout the year. The traveling exhibit honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War, and it bears the names of the 58,279 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.
In order for The Wall That Heals to be on display in these communities, the community must allow larger crowds to gather and VVMF and our hosts must take the necessary precautions to safeguard the health and safety of our volunteers and visitors. We are cautiously optimistic this will be possible come spring. Note: At press time, face masks are required on event grounds and firearms are prohibited.
Arizona Visits
The display will be in Bullhead City, Ariz., at Mohave High School from Thursday, Oct. 21 through Sunday, October 24. It will then be in Pinetop-Lakeside, Ariz., at Mountain Meadow Recreation Complex (1001 S. Woodland Road, Lakeside, AZ 85929) from Thursday, Oct. 28 through Sunday, Oct. 31

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Arizona’s diverse geography — from snow-covered mountains to sunny desert landscapes — means the weather differs from region to region and from season to season. To help you make the most of your travel budget, take advantage of off-season travel. Here, a guide to where in Arizona, and when, to visit. https://www.visitarizona.com/like-a-local/off-season-savings-in-arizona/
Ski In Flagstaff
Come winter, the mountains above Flagstaff are swaddled in the white stuff. With an average of 260 inches of snow, the slopes are packed with skiers and snowboarders during the holidays and all through January. But the fun doesn’t have to end on January 31.
About the same time that Major League Baseball’s Cactus League Spring Training gets underway in metro Phoenix, there’s still a deep base of snow on the San Francisco Peaks, with each new storm adding a layer of fresh powder. Arizona Snowbowl Winter Resort stays open through the end of April and often runs specials and deals to entice visitors. You’ll enjoy less-crowded lifts and wide-open skiing lanes under crisp morning skies.
WILDLIFE
Watch wildlife In Sierra Vista
Spring in Sierra Vista, with its abundance of wildflowers and migrating birds, is technically high season. But you can take advantage of the wild beauty of this southern Arizona destination without breaking the bank. That’s because the Friends of the San Pedro River organization offers free interpretive walks through lush riparian zones, where cottonwoods and willows attract hundreds of migrating and nesting bird species.
After, head toward the “Yosemite of Arizona”—Cave Creek Canyon. Accessed through the small town of Portal, the canyon is a birder’s paradise for five months of the year. The rest of the time, it’s just paradise. Spend some time relaxing in nature, and when you’re ready to rest and eat, head to the Portal Peak Lodge for inexpensive lodging and food.
