Enjoy a special, and educational evening with special guest Alvaro Jaramillo, a distinguished ornithologist who has been birding since his childhood in Chile. Now living in California, Alvaro will be talking about one of his favorite bird families, the New World Blackbird. $45 per person.

Downstream Events Calendar August 2023PHOENIX — Do you want to see your photo on the cover of Arizona Wildlife Views’ annual calendar? Do you have a knack for capturing great photos of wildlife? Then you won’t want to miss the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s 17th annual wildlife photo contest.

One best in show and 11 first-place winners will be showcased in the 2024 calendar, which is published in the November-December 2023 issue of Arizona Wildlife Views. The best-in-show photo is published on the calendar’s cover and as one of the photos representing a month.

We’re partnering with Arizona Highways to provide an easier way to submit photographs. Use the online form to submit your Arizona wildlife photos. Each contestant may submit a maximum of three photographs, which must be uploaded as separate submissions through the form.

Make plans now to join your fellow conservationists and honor this year’s inductees at the 25th annual Arizona Outdoor Hall of Fame induction ceremony and banquet on Saturday, Aug. 19. The event will take place at The Wigwam Resort, 300 Wigwam Blvd., in Litchfield Park, Ariz.

Arizona Game and Fish seeks nominations for 2023 Commission Awards

Deadline to submit nominations is Aug. 23 

 

The Arizona Game and Fish Commission is soliciting nominations for its 2023 Commission Awards. The awards recognize Arizonans who have contributed significantly to the conservation of the state’s wildlife, its outdoor heritage, and the mission of the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD).

To nominate someone, download a nomination form and submit the completed form and any supplemental information to Olga Kline, either by email to okline@azgfd.gov or by U.S. mail to Olga Kline, Arizona Game and Fish Department, 5000 W. Carefree Highway, Phoenix, AZ 85086. Nominations must be received by the department no later than 5 p.m. Aug. 23, 2023.

 The Liqui Moly Pro Watercross International Cup presented by Jettrim is making its debut in the western United States, with Lake Havasu City, Arizona, hosting the event at its state-of-the-art Havasu Riviera Marina from September 29 to October 1, 2023. Pro Watercross is similar to a motocross competition that takes place on open water, using personal watercraft or jet skis on unpredictable liquid tracks on oceans, rivers, and lakes, with speeds reaching 85 mph.
