Featured Boat Of The MonthNew Water Feature At Arizona National Boat ShowThe Arizona National Boat Show and Fishing Exposition will jump-start the 2007 boating season with the arrival of the new 2007 boats and the latest in boating accessories and fishing gear, Jan. 24-28 at the Phoenix Convention Center, 33 S. Third St., in downtown Phoenix. New to the show this year, a 170-foot "Wake Park" featuring the best pro wake riders in the country. The "Wake Park" is an on-site pool and rail that features professional wakeboarders and wakeskaters demonstrating hot new tricks as they slide the rails and jump the gap at boat speeds. "The Wake Park will be a favorite of all who enjoy wakeboarding as well as boating in general," said Jon Greenband, show producer. "This will be the Phoenix debut of the Wake Park. The best riders in the world will show off their skills at the show." Sponsored by Epic Boats, Liquid Force, Monster Energy Drink, and Bill Luke Dodge, the Wake Park will feature such top riders as Kevin Henshaw and Aaron Reed of Liquid Force and Scott Byerly of Air Nautique and Hyperlite. Patrick Panakos, a professional wake boarder, featured on the cover of Wake Boarding Magazine, will build the "Wake Park". Panakos not only operates the Projects wakeboard and wake skate camp in Orlando, Fla. but also builds ramps and rails for the famous X Games. The Wake Park is 20 feet wide and features 35-foot rails. Riders are pulled by a gas-powered winch through a pond and over the rails into a landing pond. Each rider demonstrates his skill, style, and creativity while being pulled at boat speeds. In addition to the hundreds of boats, the Arizona National Boat Show will give fishing enthusiasts the opportunity to see a giant 4,000-square-foot fishing aquarium with live sessions by local professional anglers and bass fishermen. Professionals will also be giving hands-on fly-tying seminars at the fly-tying theater. Attendees have the opportunity to win a 14-foot fishing boat and a Lake Powell houseboat adventure. The 36th Annual Arizona National Boat Show is set for Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Thursday, Jan. 25 from noon to 9 p.m.; Friday, Jan.26 from noon to 9 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 27 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors (60-plus), $6 for juniors ages 7 through 12, and children 6 and under will be admitted free.
