Boating safety at Mead: That’s the focus on Saturday, May 20 from 10
a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hemenway Harbor, Lake Mead National Recreation
Area. Sponsored by the Lake Mead Safe Boating Partnership, the
event will feature many safety-related events, as well as great
prizes.
Following is a list of some of the events scheduled for the day:
- At-the-water training for PWCs
- Vessel inspections
- Houseboat safety
- Boating safety
- Trailering and launching demos
- Free U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets (while supplies
last and one per family, please)
- Kayak and canoe safety demonstration
Visitors who bring their driver’s licenses, proof of successful
completion of any National Association of State Boating Law
Administrators (NASBLA) and/or U.S. Coast Guard-approved
boating-safety class, then take the at-the-water Safe Boating Day
"mini-course" at this event, are eligible to win one of the
following prizes:
- Brand new 2006 4-stroke Sea-Doo GT
- Family houseboat vacation
- Colorado River raft trip
- Colorado River kayak tour
All entrance fees into Lake Mead will be waived for participants
of Safe Boating Day. More information is available at
