If You’re RVing To Cool Country In July,Stop By The Coconino County Horse RacesFLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Witness the action-packed horse racing in comfortable and shaded box seats during the 52nd Coconino County Horse Races on June 30, July 1, 3 and 4 at the Fort Tuthill County Park Grandstands; box seats are now on sale for $6 a seat. And, since it’s a great time to RV to northern Arizona, this is an appealing event when you’re in the area. The Coconino County Horse Races have been a long-standing Fourth of July tradition and the only live-racing event in northern Arizona. It features four days of live racing, with six to eight races per day, which are simulcast to approximately 46 off-track betting sites around Arizona. The races have pari-mutuel wagering for live Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing featuring daily doubles, quinellas, and trifecta specials. Live race days are on June 30, July 1, 3 and 4. Gates open at 11 a.m. and the daily post time is 1 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for children 6-12 years. Children 5 and under are free. Parking is $3 per vehicle. The Family Day is set on Tuesday, July 3 and will be jazzed up with fun for children and adults such as face painting, crafts, balloon twisting, strolling clowns, and live entertainment. The best thing about Family Day is free admission to all. Dark days, simulcast off-track betting races only, are on July 2 and 5 and will begin approximately at 11:30 a.m. Coconino County Parks and Recreation Department, producer of the Coconino County Horse Races is also offering Race Day, Race and Blanket sponsorships. As one of the largest events in northern Arizona, it draws an average of 15,000+ attendees.
