AArizona Dept. Of Game & Fish Announces
Free Fishing Day On June 7 From 12 To 12

Arizona’s Free Fishing Day is Saturday, June 7 from 12 a.m. to 12 a.m. Angling is free on all state waters and urban lakes, with one exception: the Colorado River. No fishing license is required on this day.

“Open to the Public” Department-sponsored fishing programs will have sportfishing instructors available to provide instructions and answer questions about fishing. The department will also have available for loan to the public, on a first-come-first-served basis, 100 rods and reels and a limited supply of bait.

Fishing programs are free unless otherwise noted. Program dates and times are subject to change. Participants 14 years and older may fish without a state or urban fishing license between sanctioned fishing-clinic hours, as long as they register at the Arizona Game and Fish booth, located at the fishing clinic site.All participants wanting to fish before or after sanctioned fishing clinic hours must be lawfully licensed, with the exception of blind residents and juveniles under 14 years of age (who do not need a license).

Remaining programs are as follow:

  • June 7, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Mt. Graham, Ariz., Riggs Flat Lake (located in the Pinaleño Mountains, 42 miles southwest of Safford
  • June 14, 7 a.m.- 9 a.m.: Peoria, Ariz., Rio Vista Rec Center, 8866 N. Thunderbird Road, Peoria; Rio Vista Park is on Rio Vista Boulevard, just north of Thunderbird Road, ¼ mile west of Loop 101 freeway. This event is for families, ages 5 to 90, and is part of Peoria Family Fishing.
