Arizona Yacht Club
Their Motto: ‘Come Sail With Us!’
The Arizona Yacht Club is a racing, cruising, educational, and social sailing club made up of more than 230 Arizona families. They say that there is no problem if you have no boat or sailing experience.
According to the AYC Web site, “Just jump on board, and AYC will help you explore and enjoy this great sport and hobby of sailing.”
Here's a taste of what they do:
- They race and have classes on many weekends on several area lakes. If you become a member, you can even adopt a club boat to sail on Tempe Town Lake.
- Members crew, which helps them learn the ropes with other members on both big and small craft.
- They cruise here in Arizona and beyond: on Lake Pleasant, to Catalina, in the Sea of Cortez, as well as other ports of call.
- Members socialize, in monthly meetings, picnics, dinners, and parties.
- And, AYC members contribute to our community with fundraising and community charity events. In addition, they teach both kids and adults how to sail through the Arizona Sailing Foundation, their nonprofit subsidiary.
Every year there are dozens and dozens of AYC events built on good times, sportsmanship, and a common love of sailing. AYC has a one-time initiation fee of $150, and the annual dues are $125/year.
