The checks are free.Arizona’s 3rd Annual Boating Safety Celebration will take place at the Ten Lane Ramp at Lake Pleasant May 20 from 8 a.m. to1 p.m.

Everyone is invited to learn a bit more about boating safety and fun on the water.

Several interactive and action-packed activities are planned including towing, personal watercraft operation, and search-and-rescue demonstrations.

Experts will be on hand to help boaters learn how to properly wear a life jacket or personal flotation device (PFD).

The 2006 celebration will feature vessel safety checks at Maricopa County Parks’ Ten Lane ramp as well as Pleasant Harbor Marina. Vessel safety checks will also be conducted at other Arizona lakes concurrently.

Come to the lakes for some fun on the water and take a minute to have your boat checked — free. Vessel safety checks are for the boater's information and are not part of any enforcement activity.

Arizona’s Boating Safety Celebration is a joint effort of the state’s leading boating-safety organizations including U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, The Phoenix Sail and Power Squadron, Arizona Game & Fish, Maricopa Parks and Recreation, Peoria Fire Department, and a grant from the National Water Safety Congress .
