PAGE, Ariz. — The National Park
Service is extending the public comment period on the Uplake
Development Concept Plan/Environmental Assessment to Sept. 8, 2006
This plan will guide future development in the "uplake" areas
of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, including Bullfrog, Halls
Crossing, and Hite.
The draft Uplake DCP proposes a range of alternatives to
provide for future visitor access at varying Lake Powell water
levels and to address changes in visitor services, visitation
levels, and visitor expectations.
The plan also ensures the protection of park resources and
values.
The draft DCP and EA can be obtained online at:
parkplanning.nps.gov/glca.
Printed copies are available for review at regional public
libraries in Utah and Arizona, the Bullfrog Visitor Center, park
headquarters in Page, and at tribal government offices in Arizona,
Utah, and New Mexico.
A limited number of printed copies or electronic copies on
compact disc are available by contacting the National Park Service
at (928) 608-6337.
Comments may be submitted electronically by visiting
parkplanning.nps.gov/glca or by mail to Draft Uplake DCP/EA, Glen
Canyon National Recreation Area, P.O. Box 1507, Page, AZ, 86040.
It is the practice of the NPS to make all comments, including
names and addresses of respondents who provide that information,
available for public review following the conclusion of the
environmental assessment process.
