Volunteers Needed For Forest Closure Shelter
Flagstaff, AZ – Due to the recent forest
closures, several agencies have been working together to address
the issue of displaced people who were previously living in the
forest.
A shelter has been established at the
Salvation Army, located at 2229 E. Cedar Avenue in Flagstaff.
The shelter is open seven days a week from
7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. and welcomes anyone who has been
displaced due to the forest closure.
Volunteers are needed to assist agency
staff with the intake process nightly from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00
p.m.
A volunteer training process will be held
on Tuesday, June 27 at 5:15 p.m. at the United Way of Northern
Arizona office, 1515 E. Cedar Avenue, Suite D-1.
The forest closure shelter is a joint
project with Coconino County, City of Flagstaff, Salvation Army
and United Way of Northern Arizona.
The project is partially funded by the
Arizona Department of Housing.
